History
The establishment of Pediatric Dentistry Department began with the holding of science development meeting by Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Gadjah Mada in 1970. Pedodontic laboratory was formed in 1974 to facilitate the interest to pediatric dental health science and was led by Prof. drg. Sutatmi Suryo, who previously was a lecturer at the Conservative Dentistry Laboratory. At that time Pedodontic Laboratory was held at nDalem Mangkubumen Ngasem, Yogyakarta with only 2 lecturers, drg. Sutatmi Suryo and drg. Lely Sumarnjati Radiosunu. Later, the lecturers increased, namely drg. VJ soedarsono, drg. Siti Bale Sri Rantinah, drg. Al Supartinah, drg. Iwa Sutarjo, drg. Emut Lukito, drg Indah Titien S, drg. Rinaldi Budi Utomo, drg. Sri Kuswandari, drg, Ign Sulistyo Jatmiko, drg Putri Kusuma Wardani, drg. Indra Bramanti, drg. Anggun Dwi Andini and drg. Anrizandy Narwidina.
1986 Period
Pedodontic laboratory given name was changed into Pediatric Dental Health Laboratory in 1986 and led by drg. Sutatmi Suryo as head of the laboratory and drg. Iwa Sutardjo as the secretary. Later, the Pediatric Dental Health Laboratory changed into Pediatric Dental Health Department and was led by drg Siti Bale Sri Rantinah, SU. Based on the Conference of pediatric dentist council, Pediatric Dental Health Department was changed to Pediatric Dentistry Department.
1995 Period
In the 1995 lecturers of the Pediatric Dentistry Department established the Pediatric Dentistry Specialist Study Program. At that time the management was carried out by Specialist Study Program Officials together with other Specialist Study Programs under the coordination of the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry UGM. Starting January 2016 the management of the Pediatric Dentistry specialist study program is carried out independently by the Pediatric dentistry Department under the coordination of the Faculty of Dentistry.
