Pediatric dental co-assistant is a mandatory clinical practice for students of dental profession study program to obtain a doctor of dental surgery degree. Pediatric dental co-assistant has a load of 3 credits which done integrated with other courses during the program.

Pediatric dental co-assistant provides student cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills regarding the preventive, curative and rehabilitative treatment for children’s oral and health condition. Dental treatment for children must be done in a holistic or comprehensive manner regarding their physical and growth and developmental stage. Students also must be able to perform good behavior management based on the pediatric dental triangle which involves dentist, children and parents where children is the main focus of the treatment.

Pediatric dental co-assistant requirements are designed to fulfil the competency standard of Indonesian Dentist Collegium and local content added by Faculty of Dentistry UGM. Dental profession’s graduates are expected to have the ability to treat dental problems in children holistically.
